Leicester Kerala Community: Membership Terms and Conditions

The Leicester Kerala Community (LKC) fosters a vibrant and inclusive space for Keralites (people of Kerala) in Leicester and Leicestershire. Membership in the LKC allows you to connect with your heritage, participate in community events, and contribute to the advancement of the Keralite community.

• 1) Eligibility:
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting and actively participating in LKC activities.
  • Uphold the LKC's core values of inclusivity, respect, and mutual benefit, as outlined in our governing documents and policies.
• 2) Membership:
  • LKC membership is subject to annual renewal, which typically commences in March of each year.
  • Members are required to renew their LKC membership annually within the specified time frame set by the LKC committee, regardless of their initial membership or renewal date.
  • Failure to renew your membership within the timeframe specified by the LKC Executive Committee will result in the loss of membership.
• 3) Responsibilities:
  • Members are expected to actively participate in LKC endeavors and activities to the best of their abilities.
  • Members acknowledge their responsibility to uphold the unity of the LKC and agree to refrain from actions that may cause division or dissension within the organization.
  • Members agree to adhere to the LKC bylaws, policies, and procedures, including but not limited to the GDPR policy.
• 4) Media Usage:
  • The LKC reserves the right to publish, upload, and utilize images or videos of its events on its official website, social media platforms, and promotional materials.
  • By becoming a member, you grant the LKC consent to use your likeness in photographs and videos for these purposes. You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting the LKC Data Protection Officer (DPO).
• 5) Data Protection:
  • The LKC is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • We will only collect and process your data for legitimate purposes, such as membership administration, event organization, and communication.
  • Your data will be stored securely and will not be shared with third parties without your consent, except where required by law.
  • You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and object to the processing of your data.

• 6) Exclusivity:
  • By becoming a member of the LKC, you agree not to concurrently hold membership in any other Malayali associations with similar objectives during the duration of your LKC membership.
• 7) Termination or Suspension:
  • Membership may be terminated or suspended for engaging in conduct detrimental to the LKC's reputation, mission, or values, including but not limited to:
  • Disrupting LKC activities or events.
  • Failing to uphold the principles of unity and respect.
  • Holding a conflict of interest with the LKC's objectives or mission.
  • Non-payment of membership fees or dues.
  • Violation of the LKC's GDPR policy or other rules and regulations.
• 8) Acceptance:
  • By becoming a member of the LKC, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by these terms and conditions, as well as the LKC's GDPR policy and other governing documents.
